Middlemoor Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund

Closing Date: 16 September 2026, midnight

Decision By Date: End November 2026

RWE provides £120,000+ per year for the Middlemoor Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund. Grants are available that benefit communities within a 10 km radius of the development and for individuals that reside within the Parish of Eglingham.

  • Grants available for community projects within 10 km of the wind farm development. Individual grants for residents within 7.5 km of the development.
  • £120,000 + per year
  • RWE

RWE, one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, developed and operates the Middlemoor onshore wind farm.

Operational since September 2013, the 18 turbine wind farm located in Eglingham Parish, Northumberland, supplies enough clean energy to power 29,200 households. RWE provides over £120,000 per year into a Community Fund.

COMMUNITY GROUP grants are available for groups located within 10 km of the development, and additionally within the Parish Council areas noted below. Groups applying for projects located with the Parish of Eglingham can apply for grants between £250 and £50,000, or for projects located outside the Parish of Eglingham, for grants between £250 and £30,000.

INDIVIDUAL grants, between £250 and £2,500, are available for residents within 7.5 km of the development.

All grant applications, for individuals and organisations, requesting less than £2,500 will be fast tracked, whereby a decision will be reached and notified within one month of the application submission.

There are three rounds, every 12 months, to consider applications over £2,500. The first round each year is in September / October after GrantScape has received the annual donation from RWE. A budget of c.£50,000 will be available at each round to ensure an even distribution of the funding across each of the three rounds, to not disadvantage groups applying to the later rounds in each 12-month period.

As of October 2024, the total amount available for community grants, which includes all the grants already approved to date, is approximately £180,000.
