East Coast Community Fund supports projects strengthening communities across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire

Young people facing homelessness, community groups creating new opportunities, and organisations supporting wellbeing and the environment are among those benefiting from the latest round of Ørsted’s East Coast Community Fund.

In total, more than £215,000 has been awarded to 13 projects across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and improve quality of life across the region.

One of the projects being supported through this round is the development of a new Young People’s Housing, Wellbeing & Skills Hub at the Eleanor Centre in East Marsh, Grimsby, which has been awarded £50,000 from the East Coast Community Fund.

This project will refurbish and transform the Eleanor Centre into a welcoming, accessible community hub providing housing support, wellbeing services, skills development and practical advice for young people and young families at risk of homelessness or housing crisis.

Designed in consultation with young people and local partners, the refurbished building will include confidential support rooms, therapy space, training facilities, a learning kitchen and flexible activity areas, alongside improved accessibility and energy efficiency measures.

The hub will act as a central point for a wide range of support services, helping young people access housing advice, mental health support, domestic abuse services, employment guidance and community activities in one trusted location.

Eleanor Centre, support by East Coast Community FundOnce established, the project is expected to support between 350 and 900 people each year, while also strengthening early intervention services and reducing demand on crisis support services.

Julie Walmsley, CEO at Grimsby and Cleethorpes Area Doorstep, said:

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support from the East Coast Community Fund. The Eleanor Centre will provide a safe, welcoming and trauma-informed space where young people can access practical support, develop skills and build positive futures. This project has been shaped by young people themselves, and we’re proud to be creating a hub that truly reflects their needs and aspirations.”

Imran Nawaz, Ørsted’s Senior Advisor and Community Benefit Fund Manager, said:

“This project is an incredible step forward for the regeneration of the town’s iconic historical building. It’s another example of the East Coast Community Fund continuing to support projects that deliver meaningful and lasting impact for local communities. From improving wellbeing and supporting vulnerable people to enhancing community spaces and environmental initiatives, these projects demonstrate the positive difference community-led funding can make across the region.”

The fund is delivered by Ørsted and administered by GrantScape and supports projects that deliver lasting social and environmental benefits within communities located near Ørsted’s East Coast offshore wind farms.
