Ruff Wood – Celebrating a local woodland

Improvements to a much loved woodland are being officially celebrated today.Logo-WM

Ruff Wood, off Vicarage Lane, is a popular walking site for local people in and around Ormskirk. The project involving Groundwork Lancashire West & Wigan and West Lancashire Borough Council has greatly improved the site for all.

The project received an £18,000 from the Whitemoss Community Fund through GrantScape.

Work has included the clearance of overgrown areas and improvements to drainage. New pathways, benches and the installation of sculptures have also helped to make the woodland more attractive and visitor friendly.
The celebration event looks to be fun packed with a demonstration of tree sculpture by Mike Burgess, a tour of the woodland and local schoolchildren will be taking part in a range of activities which include a sculpture hunt and clay sculpting.
