Rookery South Community Energy Initiative (RSCEI)

The 2023 claim period closed on 3 May 2023 and late claims will not be accepted. Successfully submitted claims, on or before the closing date, will receive their subsidy payment by the end of June 2023.

For those who registered in 2019 and did not claim last year’s subsidy, if you have not claimed this year, your registration will now lapse and you will no longer be eligible to claim the subsidy in future years.

About the Initiative

Rookery South Limited is unable to directly supply low cost electricity to their neighbours, so they have committed to contribute c.£60 (in the first year and index-linked in the following years) towards electricity costs of designated domestic households in the Rookery Pit area via the Rookery South Community Energy Initiative (RSCEI).

Schools, not-for-profit organisations and residents of households (as at 31 December 2018) in the parishes of Brogborough, Cranfield, Houghton Conquest, Lidlington, Marston Moreteine, Millbrook, Stewartby and Wootton were invited to register for the RSCEI. Registration closed on 28 June 2019.

Rookery South Limited has appointed GrantScape Services Ltd to manage the RSCEI on its behalf.

If you registered successfully for the RSCEI, we would have contacted you by email or post to confirm your registration in September 2019.

As you were advised, when your registration was confirmed, each year you will be notified when the RSCEI claim period opens and the deadline date. You will be required to provide a copy of a bill showing your name, address and dated on or after 1 August (of the previous year) to confirm that you still live at the registered address. We will also need you to tell us your bank details to credit the payment as we will delete these details every year, once the payment process has been completed.

Due to the high number of registrations, we will gradually send the notifications, to let you know how you can submit a Claim. Notifications are sent directly to your registered email address. If you did not provide an email address, your Claim Form has been posted to you. Reminders will be sent approximately one month before the deadline date.

IMPORTANT: Please do not attempt to register on our application portal. This Initiative is only available to those who registered in 2019 and you will not be able to access the Claim Form if you did not register then.

The subsidy amount for 2023 was £100. Rookery South Limited calculate the amount from the base figure of £60 in 2016 and inflate it annually using the Consumer Price Index. They took the decision to increase the payment for 2023 to £100, which is above the actual calculated amount.

The RSCEI is a 35 year financial commitment (or until the facility closes, whichever is the sooner) by Rookery South Limited, subject to householders current and future eligibility, starting from commercial operation of the ERF in January 2022.
