Rookery South Limited

Rookery South Limited (RSL) has built the new Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) at Rookery South Pit, a former brick clay extraction pit, near Stewartby in Bedfordshire. The facility provides a vital outlet for the sustainable disposal of over 500,000 tonnes per year of residual waste, generating over 60 megawatts of low carbon energy – enough electricity to meet the needs of over 112,500 homes. For more information about the ERF, please visit:

RSL has established the Community Energy Initiative, a subsidy scheme for registered householders near the facility, payable from the operational date (January 2022) and has also set up and funded the Rookery South Community Trust Fund, a grant programme to support local organisations.
