Rookery South Limited
Rookery South Limited has established the Rookery South Community Energy Initiative, an electricity subsidy scheme for local householders and the Rookery South Community Trust Fund which will provide grants to organisations, in the vicinity of the Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility, located near Stewartby in Bedfordshire.
Rookery South Limited (RSL) has built the new Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) at Rookery South Pit, a former brick clay extraction pit, near Stewartby in Bedfordshire. The facility provides a vital outlet for the sustainable disposal of over 500,000 tonnes per year of residual waste, generating over 60 megawatts of low carbon energy – enough electricity to meet the needs of over 112,500 homes. RSL has established the Community Energy Initiative, a subsidy scheme for registered householders near the facility, payable from the operational date (January 2022) and has also set up and funded the Rookery South Community Trust Fund, a grant programme to support local organisations.
