Downend Cricket Club has enhanced its playing facilities and increased participation opportunities thanks to a £21,230 grant from the SUEZ Communities Fund.
The funding supported the installation of SIS Grass hybrid pitches, reinforcing the playing surface and significantly improving durability. As a result, the club can now accommodate more senior matches on the central square, reducing wear and tear across other pitches.
This has led to improved playing conditions for junior and women’s teams, providing safer, more consistent surfaces and supporting the development of players at all levels.
The project is expected to benefit around 500 individuals each year and has strengthened the long-term sustainability of the club as a key community sports facility.
By investing in high-quality infrastructure, the project has helped ensure that the club can continue to provide inclusive opportunities for participation, while maintaining high standards for performance and safety.
