Brand new litter bug!
A grant of £10,000 provided by the Augean Community Fund to Nene Park Trust contributed towards the purchase of a new Polaris off-road vehicle, which will help keep Ferry Meadows Country Park looking great and free from litter.
The purchase will help make the Park cleaner and safer for its visitors. Nene Park Trust strive to keep the Park beautiful and free from litter, but traversing it on foot is impractical. The Parks growing popularity means visitors use areas further off the beaten track which are more difficult to access.
By adding a Polaris ATV to their vehicle line up, this small 4WD vehicle allows them to safely clean more paths and has the ability to tow a trailer, which will carry the litter collected. In addition to their park management team, they hope to train their Volunteers to use the Polaris, providing empowerment for the team and much needed extra manpower to keep the Park clean.
There are also environmental benefits to the new member of the family. The smaller vehicle reduces diesel emissions, it provides the opportunity to remove potential pollutants and dangerous items from the ecosystem, benefiting wildlife, and by providing a cleaner greenspace for the local community, Nene Park Trust hopes they will take pride in the Park and protect it by keeping it clean.
